target=\"_blank\">geek girl<\/a> ascendancy into the mainstream, the ring tone on Liz Lemon&#8217;s cell phone is revealed to be &#8220;Fuck the Pain Away&#8221; by Canadian electropunk performance artist <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peaches_%28musician%29\" target=\"_blank\">Peaches<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s such an excellent inside joke that this is probably a good time to remind ourselves why everyone should get it.<\/p>\n<p>Third Wave feminism might not have had the broad cultural impact it has without the wide open music scene of the 90s.\u00a0 And it arguably was helped along in the previous decade by Madonna, who made sure everybody understood that her sexuality was a source of power, not a cause of subordination.\u00a0 The music of the Third Wave &#8212; with its <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riot_grrl\" target=\"_blank\">riot grrrl<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queercore\" target=\"_blank\">queercore<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lo-fi_music\" target=\"_blank\">lo-fi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Diy\" target=\"_blank\">DIY<\/a> ethic &#8212; has done much to make
