I was in Bryan Prince Books<\/a> today where I got\u00a0talking with Tracey,\u00a0one of the helpful and knowledgable staff, who had just read Alice Munro<\/a>‘s Lives of Girls and Women<\/em> <\/a>and loved it.\u00a0 (Munro’s latest, Too Much Happiness<\/a><\/em> is now out and available at Bryan Prince Books<\/a>\u00a0— that’s Bryan Prince Books<\/a>, located in the heart of Westdale Village, Hamilton.)\u00a0 I confessed\u00a0that I actively prosyletize for three people: Shakespeare, Frye, and Munro.\u00a0 Tracey said that she’d been meaning to read Frye, and I of course told her about us — at which point the man standing behind us piped up, “It’s a good blog.”\u00a0 This gracious young man, whom I’ll call “Matthew” (in fact his real name), assured me that he’d been reading the blog since it first appeared two weeks ago, and that he\u00a0knows others who are reading it too.\u00a0 (He’s also a Munro fan: coincidence?)\u00a0 I can’t pretend I wasn’t delighted by this chance meeting–and, of course, a high end cultural establishment like Bryan Prince Books<\/a>\u00a0offers the best chance of such a meeting.\u00a0 I’m also going to assume that this single encounter is representative\u00a0of the thousands if not\u00a0millions of anonymous readers out there who visit us daily.\u00a0 Bless you all.\u00a0 Godspeed.\u00a0 May the road rise to meet you.<\/p>\n
