I recently watched a perennial favorite, Chaplin’s City Lights<\/a>, <\/em>arguably one of the greatest silent films ever made, and perhaps Chaplin’s best.\u00a0 Sometime very soon I’m going to blog on Frye’s essay “The Great Charlie<\/a>” (and maybe his views on movies in general).\u00a0 In the meantime, the equally poignant and funny opening scenes of City Lights <\/em>are featured above. <\/em>If you haven’t seen this movie, then you must.\u00a0 The rest of it appears after the jump.<\/p>\n
