Overall Aims:

  • To facilitate working in partnership
  • To use creativity techniques to facilitate divergent thinking in relation to initiatives
  • To facilitate team working on initiatives
  • To enhance knowledge of students as partners

Teams have brief reminder of CI ground rules and approach.
09.15-10.05 Working together as partners Atrium Kris, Rafaella & Sabrina Delegates will be familiar with principles of working in partnership.
10.05-10.15 Intro to Rich Picture Atrium Peter & Sabrina Delegates will develop an understanding of the rich picture task
10.15-10:35 Refreshment break
10.35-12.00 Team Time – Development of rich picture (max 45 min); Check in / introduction to supporters; Discuss project Atrium Peter & Sabrina Rich Picture of project.
12:00-13:00 Lunch
13:00-13:45 Sharing Your Rich Picture (Receive feedback from other participants as well as identifying common themes) Atrium Rafaella & Cherie Teams have shared understanding of what they are doing. Teams working together more cohesively. Feedback gained from other teams
13:45-15:35 Refreshments and team time (teams take refreshment break as suits them) Atrium Team leaders/

Day 2: 9 May 2017

Overall Aims:

  • To complete divergent thinking and introduce convergent thinking in relation to change initiatives
  • To enable the development of generative solutions to individual team challenges
  • To explore evaluation of projects
  • To facilitate team working on initiatives
  • To enhance knowledge of students as partners

09:00-10:05 Thinking Creatively about Change Atrium Mick Teams develop out-of-the-box answers that can strengthen their project and increase the chance of success.
10:05-10.25 Refreshments
10:25-11:05 Some helpful tools Atrium Kris & Cherie Teams acquire skills in using organisational development tools such as stakeholder analysis; scenario planning; dissemination planning etc.
11:05-12:00 Team working Atrium Team leaders/

12:00-13:00 Lunch
13:00–14:35 Team working continued. (Take refreshments as needed) Atrium Team leaders/

Teams make progress with their project. Supporters visit teams as appropriate. Each team comes up with a question they would like help with to hand to Mick at lunch.
14.35-15.35 Panel discussion Atrium Mick chairs a panel consisting of the other supporters Teams get solutions to their difficult questions; networking.

Day 3: 10 May

Overall Aims:

  • To complete divergent thinking and introduce convergent thinking in relation to change initiatives
  • To inculcate a number of key organisation development skills
  • To prepare for return to institution, engaging others and disseminating practices
  • To facilitate team working on initiatives
  • To enhance knowledge of students as partners

9:00-9:40 Using a developmental evaluation framework Atrium Cherie & Rafaella Teams make a start on their evaluation planning
9:40-12:00 Team working, including supporters by invitation. Integrate with taking refreshments Atrium Team leaders/Supporters

12:00-12:45 Lunch
12:45-14:00 Liquid Cafe Atrium Mick and SI Team Using expertise in the room to address key questions facing individuals and institutions developing students as partner initiatives
14:00- 15:15 Team working, including supporters by invitation. Integrate with taking refreshments. Atrium Team leaders/Supporters. Teams make progress with their projects. Supporters/consultants visit teams as appropriate
15:15- 16:15 Engaging others at your institution and making the project & partnerships sustainable Atrium Peter & Sabrina Plan how to engage others, disseminate project outcomes and embed the initiative
16:15-16:30 Closing & Reflective Prompts Atrium Mick Participants reflect on progress, understanding, plans for next day
16:35-17:20 Optional focus groups

Day 4: 11 May

  • To identify future actions
  • To facilitate team working on initiatives
  • To enhance knowledge of students as partners

11:15-12:00 Conclusion & Evaluation (including reflective prompts) Atrium  All Participants will reflect on their experience of the CI, and revisit the partnership values discussed on Day 1
