McMaster’s first annual International Summer Institute was held in Hamilton from on 2-5 May 2016. It was one of the first to be held on the topic of ‘students as partners in learning and teaching in higher education’. The event was facilitated by highly experienced faculty, staff and students including Sophia Abbot (Trinity, US), Anita Acai (McMaster University), Sam Dvorakova (Queensland, Australia), Peter Felten (Elon, US), Lauren Groenendijk (Queensland, Australia), Mick Healey (Healey HE Consultants, UK), Sabrina Kirby (McMaster University), Kris Knorr (McMaster, Canada), Beth Marquis (McMaster, Canada), Kelly Matthews (Queensland, Australia), Lucy Mercer-Mapstone (Queensland, Australia), Rafaella Shammas (McMaster University), Kelly Swaim (Elon, US). Approximately 100 participants (half students, half staff) from universities in seven countries participated.
