Welcome to the McMaster Accessibility in Teaching and Learning Forum. This resource is designed to provide university instructors, teaching assistants, and educators across campus an online place to interactively engage with one another in discussions, to share ideas, resources, and practices relating to accessible teaching. This peer-to-peer forum is intended as a way to support one another in fostering “strategic and thoughtful institution-wide reconsideration of teaching practice and learning assumptions, from curriculum delivery to program and even degree rules” (Deane, 2015) through discussions and the sharing of valuable resources. This forum is intended to be a platform for thoughtful and positive discussion, and collective work targeted at reducing and eliminating barriers to accessible education.
Please use this forum to initiate broad discussions, share specific (anonymous) experiences, and provide resources and personal examples of putting accessible teaching and accommodation provisions into practice. The content of this forum may be mediated and we ask that discussions are of a positive tone. Post should be aimed at sharing, encouraging, and connecting with others to build more capacity in accessible teaching and learning related knowledges and practices.
We thank you for continued dedication and contribution to sustaining and growing McMaster University’s reputation as a dynamic, diverse and inclusive world leading post-secondary institution.
