For me, the Frygian virus spreads well past the borders of books. Moncton, home of the Frye Festival, happens to be my most favorite-est city in the world. I love the triangulation of Riverview, Dieppe, and Moncton. The city’s flat so you can easily conquer it on a bike. Bilingual ambience is palpable not pompous, and the spirit of long freight trains still lingers. Traffic is negotiable. It’s small enough to escape the mind-numbing redundancies of franchises found in big cities. Moncton’s couple of McDonalds, not sixty, a handful Tim Hortons’ not 400, and that’s alright. And it’s web-wired. Progressive municipal leadership.

A great city.
